Talk about last-minute! We have a huge fall festival in my neighborhood.. tomorrow.. with trunk-or-treat. So of course I started pulling together some ideas.. last night. And you’ll see the theme in all of these ideas is to use what you have. As Tim Gunn says, “Make it work!” (more…)
I love Halloween, like really love it. It’s one of my favorite holidays, only a close second behind Christmas. But I also love my kids’ teeth and would rather not see them rot. And let’s face it, the brushing at this age is less than stellar, so those little pearls can use all the protection they can get.
So this year I’m thinking about going candy free for Halloween. And the good news is, I found lots of other cool stuff you can give to your kids and give away to trick-or-treaters that isn’t loaded with sugar. (more…)
The thought of sticking my hand into the bowels of a pumpkin to pull out a pound of mushy, slimy, gooey pumpkin guts is not really appealing to me. Bravo to all of you who do it. But for me, it will be painted pumpkins with the tops still on them and the guts securely packed inside. Check out some of these awesome painted pumpkin ideas. (more…)
Like I said in my last post, Hair-Raising Halloween Weekend, I recently visited my sister and niece in Houston. And I was blown away at how awesome their house was decked out for Halloween. From sinister skulls and creepy candles to boo-tastic bottles, they go all out. Check out some of their DIY crafts, some inspired by Pinterest, some conceived inside their own ingeniously spooky skulls. (more…)
I recently visited my sister and niece in Houston and they went all out to make us feel at home and show my two young kids a super fun Halloween-themed time. Between the food and the crafts, they thought of everything. Check it out! (more…)
As promised, I tried out a whole list of new DIY Halloween decorations from Pinterest this year and I wanted to follow up with you on how they went.
I pin a ton of cool stuff on Pinterest, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they all work out. I tend to do things pretty clumsily, which was probably pretty evident from my post on my love hate relationship with Pinterest. So if I can pull something off, that means it’s pretty much foolproof. So here are this year’s foolproof DIY Halloween decorations that turned out pretty well and were a lot of fun to do with the kids. (more…)
When talking about what my kids wanted to be for Halloween, it was a quick decision because they’re currently OBSESSED with Pokemon. But a quick search online showed Pokemon costumes well over $40 and $50. No thanks. I like to make my kids’ costumes anyway. It just seems more fun to me. (more…)
I try to make my family home cooked meals each night with healthy ingredients. But let’s face it, who’s that good ALL the time? Not me. And sometimes you just crave take-out because it tastes so good.
These recipes below are some of my favorites. They give you the same great taste as your favorite restaurant and you can control the cost and the ingredients, which can make it much cheaper and healthier. (more…)
I’m a total picture junky. As soon as something happens or I see something beautiful I reach for my phone. So much so, that sometimes I have to force myself to stay in the moment. And I used to print a lot of pictures, carefully placing them in photo albums so I could pull them off the shelf at any time and gaze upon my sweet babies’ faces. But guess what, I never pulled them off the shelf. They only collected dust. And worst of all, it cost a ton of money.
Now I rarely print any photos unless they’re special ones that I want to blow up and frame. Yet I always have all my photos at my fingertips, hundreds, maybe even thousands of them. It’s because there are so many awesome ways now to save and showcase photos on social media – for free- and in digital albums – for cheap-. (more…)
