I’m so grateful to Lula. Lips. Love. for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. It’s extra special to me because it’s given to bloggers who are creative, positive, and inspiring. All things I love to think I am. 😉

As you may know from my last award post, I’m not a big fan of writing about myself, so bear with me. Lula. Lips. Love. gave me 11 questions to answer:

1- Why did you start blogging?

After I left.. or paused.. my career to be with my kids more, I still needed a creative outlet. I’ve been a journalist for two decades and I still love giving people information that can hopefully enhance their lives. After downsizing to one family salary it became more important than ever to pinch pennies and I think a lot of other moms are in the same boat. If I can help one mom save a few bucks, I’m happy.

2- If you had to choose only one word to describe your blog, what would it be, and why?

The one word I hope my blog is.. Helpful.

3- What is your favorite blog post that you’ve done so far?

Probably 5 Things You Should Stop Buying. Being frugal isn’t about being cheap. It’s about spending money wisely on things that matter. And the health of my family matters more than anything. So I wanted to show people a smarter, healthier and frugal way to create 5 food staples. It was also fun to collaborate with my sister on the post. She’s a great cook.

5- What are your favorite songs to listen to while blogging?

I don’t usually listen to music while blogging, but I always have CNN on the TV.

6- What TV shows are you watching right now? What is your favorite?

I love any and all British cop shows. I just finished both seasons of Fortitude on Amazon Prime, which was really good. And I just started binge watching 13 Reasons Why on Netflix. Such a powerful show and so well made.

7- If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Paris. It’s just such a beautiful city. And it will always hold a special, romantic place in my heart since my husband and I went there for our honeymoon.

8- If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That’s a super tough question. Does a vodka tonic count?

9- What person (living or dead) would you want to have dinner with?

My two kids sitting still, using their utensils and chewing with their mouths closed. These are mythical creatures I hope to one day discover in real life.

10- If you could do anything for a career, what would it be, and why?

Calorie free chocolate taste tester. For obvious reasons.

11- What is one interesting fact about you that most people may not know?

I’m very introverted. A lot of people who know me would probably think that’s crazy if they don’t really understand what it is. I can have perfectly normal social relationships and interactions. But it’s work, sometimes a lot of internal emotional work. I avoid social interactions, especially with people I don’t know that well, more often than I’d like to admit. And after a social event or prolonged interaction I need to retreat back into my shell to recharge.

Whew, that wasn’t so bad.
