Can I tell you one of my favorite things about 2020? It’s almost October!
After everything we’ve dealt with this year, we sure do need some happy times. And few times of the year bring me as much joy as October and specifically Halloween. Fall has always been my sweet spot, partly because it contains my birthday. And my love of scary movies tends to be a bit more socially acceptable. 🙂
I’m super excited to start decorating and I’m doing it all on a small budget by focusing on five essentials that go a long way in adding style to my holiday home decor.

This post is sponsored by Party City, where I got all my Halloween decor essentials. Party City makes it all super easy, affordable and so stylish. All opinions are authentic and my own.
5 Affordable Essentials For Halloween Decor

1- Message Board
I’ve always been in love with message boards. You can use them to add a pop of character to a space and change it up as often as you want. There are so many great options for captions. Check out a few here on my Halloween Pinterest board.

You can also put them in lots of different places, on the wall, on a table, or on your kitchen counter for a spooky fun coffee station.

2- Pumpkins
By far my favorite thing to decorate with this time of year is pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins. They come in so many different awesome styles these days, I have a hard time not buying about 30 of them each year. This white pumpkin with shiny gold accents from Party City is my favorite this year.

It’s fun to mix and match pumpkins with different colors and textures.

I love to use them on a table and as centerpieces and as a simple addition to a side table.

3 – Spider Webs
The best thing about Halloween decorating? All those spider webs around my house are now decor! 🙂 JK. Kind of. I do love decorating with spider webs though. You can stretch and drape them over just about anything. And it’s super affordable. A bag of spider web at Party City costs less than $1 and can be used on several surfaces.

4 – Cauldron
I like to invest in some large pieces that make a big impact and it’s a plus if they are also useful. And that’s exactly why I like cauldrons. They act as a statement piece AND a candy bowl. This one is perfect on the table at my front door. Now I just need to keep up the willpower not to fill it with candy until Halloween. Wish me luck!

But they’re not just for candy. I grabbed this smaller cauldron at Party City to hold my K-Cups. Because if I don’t have my coffee in the morning, that’s a real horror show.

5 – Candles
Candles are pretty much a must-have for any holiday decor. And they can set the perfect ambiance for Halloween. I found these awesome black, chalkboard candle holders at Party City. ($10 for a set of 6!) I used mine to spell BOO! on my foyer table and used another one in my dining table centerpiece with the sweet raffia bow it came with.

Party City made this year’s Halloween decorating super easy. I ordered my items online and picked them up at the store. But I also couldn’t help looking around a bit more when I got there. You never know when you might see something else you love.

It was also super affordable. For my message board, 2 pumpkins, spider webs, 2 cauldrons, and set of 6 candles, I paid less than $60.
