I take money very seriously. I also take fitness very seriously. And because I work out 5-6 days a week, I need a lot of workout clothes because I DO NOT want to do laundry any more than I have to. That’s why I’m always on the lookout for good quality fitness gear at great prices. I NEVER pay full price for any item, not even the essentials like a great sports bra.
Below you’ll see some of the awesome outfits I’ve put together for just about any type of exercise.. running, weight training, tennis, etc.. and each outfit is under $40, some are way under $40. (more…)
According to KidsHealth.org, physical activity not only helps kids build strong muscles and bones and control weight, it can also help them sleep better, be more academically motivated and successful.
So, while you’re making New Year’s resolutions for fitness and better health, take your kids along for the ride. (more…)
I went on a bit of a shopping spree at the grocery store recently. I was standing there looking at all the kitchen utensils and gadgets and thinking, “Wow, those are cool.” So I grabbed a few (several) of them.
But I’m not one to buy gadgets that sit in the drawer and don’t get used and therefore waste money. So what I got was super affordable and they make a big impact on cooking healthier meals for my family. (more…)
If you follow me you know I’m a runner and I’m a big fan of free and frugal fitness tools. You can check out my other post on: Frugal Fitness- How To Get Fit For A Few Dollars Or Free for some suggestions on apps, videos and resources.
And while working to get fit, you need the proper workout gear so you can be comfortable and motivated. I don’t know about you, but when I have a new workout outfit it helps to motivate me to get my butt out the door and run. Because I look good. Who wants to keep that a secret. 😉
But workout clothes have to be affordable. I’m sure Lululemon workout gear is probably the best ever. I mean, for those prices, it must automatically burn calories right? If I need a second mortgage to afford it, automatic calorie burning or not, I’m going to have to pass unless I can find it super cheap at a thrift or consignment store.
So here’s a breakdown of some frugal workout gear to get you started. (more…)
Me 6 months ago: Huffing and puffing, stops, bends over, sucks in air, almost pukes. “I hate running, why am I doing this?”
Me now: Huffing and puffing, keeps going. “I hate running, but I love that I’m doing it.”
How I made it from one point to the other can be summed up in one word, stubbornness. Let’s call it a gift I was born with. If I start something I will become as good at it as I possibly can or die trying. And since I’m relatively healthy there’s a slim chance that I’ll die running.
I wanted to be more fit and healthy. I chose running because it’s something I thought I could never do. Because I live by my favorite quote:
“You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt (more…)
